Pat Garrett Cash was in from Florida the first of April, visiting her son, daughter, grandson and sister. Pat and Sharon Camden Coleman had a great day together visiting Steve Agnor in Danville.  We heard Steve had quite a spread on the table when they arrived.  If you visit Steve, go at meal time!  ;-)

Steve Agnor was in town the 1st of May and spent a few days with his bother, Lowell.  Actually, we think he was trying to recoup his losses...he also spent a day at Sharon Camden Coleman's.  We heard they were seen having lunch at Kenny Burgers and then had dessert at her house.  Boy, does that man love cherry pie and ice cream!  ;-)

Congratulations!!!  To Ronnie Humphries new owner/operator of 'Buena Vista' Shell  (known in
1973 as Nuckols' Service Station).  Ronnie turned the key on May 1st.  Besides having the lowest gas prices in town, Buena Vista Shell is one of the few full service stations in our area offering complete car care.  Take the day off...let Ronnie do that wash/wax job and oil change. Wishing you all the best Ronnie!  (We hear he is never low on gas!)   ;-)

Welcome Back!!!  As of July, Nancy Ramsey Brown will be back on the East coast, residing in Crystal City.  We're happy your wish came true, Nancy!  Wonder if she brought any 'bigger & better' stories back with her from Texas?   ;-)

A mass mailing went out today informing PMHS Class of ' 73  members about our website.  Even though work began on the site over a year ago, only a handful of us local folks have known about it until now.  New Viewers  please take a minute to sign the Guest Book.  We appreciate knowing others are making use of the time we put into managing this site.  Thanks!

At approximately 7:00 Wednesday evening (August 22) , the cornerstone of the old Parry McCluer High School was removed revealing a small copper time capsule which contained a copy of the 1923 Senior Edition of the school newspaper, the Tatler, two local newspaper editions, and a copy of those brick layers and workmen who worked on the building. Other items, which are as yet unidentified, were taken by a local historian, Francis Lynn to W&L for analysis. The possibility of a time capsule was first discovered by Mr. Lynn as he researched material for an upcoming book.

We are sorry to report there was an accident at the new PMHS Friday night which resulted in the death of John Bradshaw, age 41, owner of Triangle Electric Corp. of Ridgeway, VA.  Mr. Bradshaw was severely shocked and fell while working on the stadium lights at the new football field. He was working from a cherrypicker at the time of the accident. Two unsuccessful rescue attempts were made by the BV and Lexington life saving crews prior to his falling.  BV resident, city employee and rescue squad member, Fred Fix, also received a severe shock during the rescue attempt. He was released from Stonewall Jackson Hospital the following day and is recovering. Please remember the needs of all those involved in this accident and their families in your prayers.

As of yesterday (Monday), the entrance to the school was closed and OSHA is investigating.

Shortly before the accident, Friday night's game with Radford had been played on the old field.  Recommendation have been made that the new sod should not be played on for at least six months. The school is considering holding Senior Night and Homecoming games only on the new field this year.
